About

Hi! I'm Jan.

And that's our little dog, Jilly. For all of her eleven years she's been a shop dog extraordinaire – now retired, as am I and my husband, Robert. For twenty five years, we owned a darling shop called Pomegranate Home & Garden, in Bend, Oregon. Last year we sold the business, and it's still going strong and happy under the new owner. It was truly my dream job and gave me such a creative outlet for all the things I love: collecting and learning about antiques, exploring design, traveling, and entertaining. And, oh yes, the shopping. That was fun.

Now that we've retired, I thought I'd blab a bit in a blog and dabble with our vintage finds. My design aesthetic was shaped by travel and by my parents, who artfully mixed vintage and modern – still my favorite way to layer warmth and character into a space. I was already an inveterate garage sale hunter at a young age, but my eye for design has improved since the thrilling days of finding a troll doll for 10¢. We recently joined a great antique collective in Redmond, Oregon, called The Back Porch & Company: we're showing some fabulous vintage items in our sweet little space. Some are gleaned from our private collection (only so much our house will hold), some from our time at the shop, and some random finds we just couldn't pass up. No troll dolls, though.

I hope you find some useful or fun information and ideas here! Let me know what you're thinking.
